Examine your Documents
Review of your documents is essential to make certain that they're complete for notarization. Dates and names must be correct.
Record & Complete The Certificate(s)
A seal and Signature will be affixed onto the notarial certificate and a recording of the notarization will be kept.
Preparing for Your Signing
- Confirm the date, time, and location with your loan signing agent/ notary
- Review your documents prior to the visit if possible
- Ensure all parties who will be signing documents have proper identification
- Put away any pets, no matter how small, cute, sweet, and cuddly they are!
- Be prepared to pay your loan signing agent/ Notary prior to beginning the signing
- Clear an area on a table to sign your documents - No Liquids of any kind
Types of Acceptable identification
The notary public can establish the identity of the signer using identification documents as follows:
- California DMV-issued ID or Driver's License
- United States Passport
- Inmate ID from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (for state prison inmates)
- Inmate ID from Sheriff's Department (for local detention facility inmates)
- Consular ID or Passport from applicant's country of citizenship
- Out-of-state Driver's License or Canadian/Mexican public agency-issued Driver's License
- ID card from another state
- United States Military ID (Note: Some might lack required info)
- Employee ID from California State/City/County office
- Tribal Government-issued ID.
